Weimar

"Have you had the chance to see any of our remarkable oddities?"

In his book "Lotte in Weimar", Thomas Mann could not have described the curiosities and lovable quirks of the "Goethe City" more fittingly. Although Weimar with its approximately 65,000 inhabitants is an average-sized German community, one does not feel provincial and cut off from the world. On the contrary, the city is characterized by the students of one university and one college and many international guests, who are looking for a place of longing here.

Situated pretty much in the center of the Federal Republic of Germany, almost 3.9 million visitors per year visit this small town in Thuringia, making it a lively place at present. While strolling through the Park an der Ilm, taking a carriage ride on the historic cobblestone pavements, or enjoying a piece of cake in one of the town‘s countless cafes, you can absorb this city of poets, slow down and unwind. That's Weimar - a place of enjoyment, sociability, contemplation and the senses.

Let yourself be seduced and inspired to discover a multi-faceted city with so much to offer in its modest space, and that always leaves you with a desire to return soon. Or, to continue the words from above: "The visitor should never forget that our oddities are not remarkable in and of themselves, but rather because they are oddities of Weimar."
