A year ago, digital city walks, online tours or virtual events in the tourism sector still seemed technically complicated and practically impossible to implement. Now they have become the usual alternative to face-to-face events of any kind and have found their way into our everyday lives.

Online live formats give travel enthusiasts and explorers an impression of the destination and its special features in advance. That is why I am now also offering my potential guests the opportunity to take a look at Weimar from the comfort of their own home on one of my »Couch Cultours« before their trip.

The tours give a highlight-like overview of the »must have seen places« in Weimar and allow an uncomplicated »get a taste« of various topics so that you can yourself get a first impression of the picturesque cultural city in the heart of Germany and then go straight to us ;-)

How does an online city tour work?

For the online city tours, I use the software from ZOOM, which was specially developed for video conferences and digital formats.

For each event there is a separate so-called "room" which you can open with an individual access link. The ACCESS LINK will be sent to you BY E-MAIL AFTER you have registered for the virtual city tour and PAID the PARTICIPATION FEE via PayPal. This process is automated.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT, PLEASE CONTACT ME BY » E-MAIL REGARDING PAYMENT BY BANK TRANSFER!

The corresponding ROOM can ONLY be OPENED via ONE device (desktop computer, laptop or smartphone). However, you can of course attend the event from home with several people (family, relatives, friends). So you only pay your fee for one access and not per person!

The event (the room) will be opened by the guides and will start on the specified date only.

However, you can also register in advance and then only connect to the virtual tour.

During the entire time of the live tour, the CAMERA & MICROPHONE OF THE PARTICIPANTS are AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHED OFF. So do not be surprised! This is already preset that way. You don't have to clean up your living room ;-)

1. Notice before using Online City Tours

The respective online city tours are provided by "Stadtführungen Weimar" and realised with the software of ZOOM.

As soon as you enter the "room" of the online city tour, you will be visible to other guests and the guides. You give your consent to this by clicking on the respective link to the offer of your choice.

2. Notes on the Implementation of Online City Tours via ZOOM ('on premise')

The respective online city tours are provided by "Stadtführungen Weimar" and realised with the software of ZOOM.

In order to operate the ZOOM service with the highest possible level of data protection and security, those responsible at "Stadtführungen Weimar" have made the necessary default settings for data economy.

The following data is temporarily processed by "Stadtführungen Weimar" during participation (as long as the virtual city tour is running):
- contact data voluntarily provided by the participant (title, first name, last name, e-mail address)
- the participation in the respective event of "Stadtführungen Weimar
- the metadata of the Internet connections
- further information voluntarily provided individually by the participant himself and the other participants in the course of the virtual city tour, such as chat content or history.
Participation in the online city tours is voluntary and can be terminated at any time without justification and without disadvantages for the participant.

Personal data collected during participation in virtual city tours will be deleted at the end of the event.

Luminaries at the Ilm - Who lived where in Weimar?

It was not only since Duke Carl August brought Goethe to Weimar that the city developed into an attraction for many great minds from different epochs. Who were these people and where did they live?

We start our foray into the market, where the famous Renaissance house is located, in which Lucas Cranach lived, we pay Martin Luther and Johann Peter Eckermann a visit, before we finally visit the house of Goethe.

The early Bauhaus and modernism in Weimar

Accompany me on the trail of the early Bauhaus and discover what was created in Weimar from 1919 to 1925, why the circle is blue and not red and what Mazdaznan is all about.

Based on the idea of the »New Weimar« and the foundation of the arts and crafts seminar, our tour begins at the Henry van de Velde buildings - and leads us across the park to the »Tempelherrenhaus«, the former studio of Johannes Itten.
