"Bon Soir, dear ones"
With these words Franz Liszt once welcomed the artist couple Clara and Robert Schumann, who stayed in Weimar. Also you are welcome on my website, and hopefully soon, in our city.
Weimar is a place of art and culture and, unlike any other city in Germany, reflects the ups and downs of our nation. On the one hand the classical period, the Bauhaus and the founding of the Weimar Republic, on the other hand Nazism and the former Buchenwald concentration camp. I would like to invite you to explore this place with me, whether in a classic guided city tour or on a specific topic, such as the Bauhaus or Weimar in the Third Reich. All tours are conducted in English for our guests from abroad.
Let yourself be taken in by a city with such a wealth of impressions. I would like to accompany you on your journey of discovery.
My name is Christian Eckert and I have lived in this fascinating place of Weimar for almost 20 years. After studying art, history and pedagogy, I stayed true to this poetic city and now work at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. For more than 15 years now I have been guiding interested guests in English and German through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Bauhaus in Weimar and it always gives me great pleasure to get to know new people and soon, maybe you too...
