FWeimar was associated with National Socialism like no other place in Germany. As early as 1930, the Nazi Party was part of the state government and strove to transform Thuringia into a model district of the Reich. For Weimar as a Gaustadt this meant that prestigious building measures were initiated, which still clearly shape the cityscape today.
This special guided walking tour of the city shows traces of the period from 1930 to 1945 and shows the important part Weimar played in the cultural policy of the Third Reich.
We will start our tour at the Deutsches Nationaltheater on the Theaterplatz and walk over the Goetheplatz in the direction of the former Gauforum. From there we will go through the former Y-road in the direction of the Marschstall and end at the marketplace.
